These double classrooms are located at Jimi Secondary School in Jiwaka Province. They are fully funded by Jimi District Development Authority (JDDA) under the leadership of Hon.Wake Goi, Local MP and the Minister for Community Development, Youth & Religion.
With a total floor area of 198m², the structure consists of two classrooms and an office space on the ground floor as well as the top floor.
The classroom is constructed using treated hardwood/timber frames with colorbond external cladding, v-crimp and roofing iron.
Located in an extremely remote part of the Jimi District, some materials are transported by helicopter from Mt. Hagen Airport. Other materials are walked 6 – 7 hours in from Wara where the road stops.
Construction commenced in July 2020 and despite being a 6 month build, some unexpected delays have been faced. Completion date is expected to be March 2021.
Both project management and construction works are being undertaken by Verticon as the contractor.
